This interesting song was recorded back in the day by the Sweet Brothers of Virginia. At the Clifftop Trad Band Finals in 2005, my band (Troublesome Creek) was preceded by a group called Old Missouri with Rhys Jones and Christina Wheeler fiddling. They played this song and we liked it so much that we recorded it on our County CD (Fast As Time Can Take Me). I was happy to get to play (and record) this peppy rendition with Rhys on January 10 at his house in Warrenton, VA. Hi Steve, This is a real great song and you folks have a real professional recording here. I like it. The Skirtlifter's have this on their Fire Alarm album and if you have never heard that your missing out on a great recording. Done back some time ago, but those guys where unstoppable.

I loved this song when I heard it on the Troublesome Creek CD. I never heard Rhys & Christina doing it, earlier. I just looked at the database I keep of recordings I have, & see I've got the Sweet Bros doing it, but also Field Wards & his Buck Mt Band. But those earlier versions are both on LPs and at the moment I can't get at them. Thank Steve for posting this most recent rendition!
