I have not put anything up since my very first recording so I thought I would post one of the songs I've been writing. Being affected by the plight of those whose lives have been changed forever because of all the flooding and all this rain, I started noodling with a song about what they might be feeling. This is a couple of months old. I play it with a little more confidence and dynamics now, a tad faster, and I have a nice bridge and more lyrics. Using GarageBand is always such a hassle for me that I just shy away from recording. Wish I had an Engineer on call - I hate the mechanics of recording by myself. ©2011

Hi Gordon, your playing is coming on great and it's good to hear your talented voice now as well..!! I enjoyed your performance, thanks.
A simple way of recording for the Hangout is using WINDOWS 'Sound Recorder' that should already be installed on your hard drive (as long as you have WINDOWS though..). It can be found by going to the START menu (bottom left green 'start') then access 'All Programs' then 'Accessories' then 'Entertainment' then 'Sound Recorder'. Right click on this and go to 'create shortcut', this will put a small icon on your desktop to save faffing with the menu route each time.
This is simple to use and has simple enhancement features like increase/reduce volume, add slight echo to your voice etc. The files are saved in 'WAV' format but can easily be converted to MP3 by right clicking on your saved WAV file and selecting 'Convert Audio Format'. It's easy to do after a few goes and you can select the saved quality of file too. The only thing I'm finding is the recording needs the volume increasing a fare bit unless you're within 8" of a £3 supermarket mic like me.. :-) which adds a little hiss, but not much.
Thanks for posting again Gordon, best wishes.....David

Gordon,
Great original and soulful playing! Your voice is terrific (nice vibrato). Perfect tune for a late Friday afternoon.
