Thanks. You're too kind. I remember I had almost given up trying to figure it out by ear, then Banjo Newsletter rescued me by printing the tab. Think that was in late 79, just before we formed the band.

I love this tune, one of my favourite Country Gazette numbers. This is the first time I've ever heard another version of it. How do you actually download it? When I click on "download" it just plays the tune. (I'm just new to Banjo Hangout).

Thanks, Paul. I guess I don't know how to download it. When I click download, I get the same thing - a Quicktim MP3 player comes up in a browser window. I thought it was supposed to be possible to click the arrow at the lower right end of the player to bring up options to save the file. I'm pretty sure I enabled downloaidng for these. You might have to post a question about this in the Website-technical issues forum. I'm sure someone will see it there and get you an answer.

As to other versions -- you're right. It doesn't seem to be a much-recorded tune. In the years I was most active playing and going out to hear bluegrass, I never heard any other band do it. There is someone with a YouTube video playing it, and doing a really good job.

Hi Old Hickory, thanks for your reply. Funnily enough I just downloaded that YouTube video a couple of days ago, you're right, the guy was doing a wonderful job of playing it. I'd love to be able to play it myself, I've been having a look for the tableture for it, can't seem to find it unfortunately and I'm not really any good at teaching myself. Oh well.

Oh wow, I didn't realise that this was actually your group playing this Old Hickory, it's brilliant, absolutely fantastic! I really like your soft style of picking, it actually reminds me a bit of Eddie Adcock's. Absolutely wonderful playing. :-)

Well thank you again! Yes, that's me on the banjo. A week before my 29th birthday. I'd been playing 8 years at that time. All the songs on my music page are my 1980s band, either at practice or performing live.
