Here's an old fiddle tune off of the Picking Around the Cookstove album on the Rounder label. This was a fun album for everyone involved. Rounder had a portable studio set up in Dick Staber's barn where his wife Renny made pottery. We moved all of her pottery and the kiln out of the way then sectioned a room off with a bunch of quilts strung on a rope from one side to the other.

Tony Trischka taught me this tune through his website. Your take and one by Blue Highway were the only ones I could find. I prefer yours by far, if I may say so. That barn sounds pretty amazing. You might want to let everyone know what fabric those quilts were made from because the sound on the Cookstove recordings is amazing . . . you might start a whole pre-war quilt craze.

This is a great old time modal tune. Excellent mix of Scruggs and melodic banjo pickin' really drove it home.
