Another old time tune with a minor feel to it. This seems to be my favorite type of song.

Everything about this track is lovely. A very relaxing piece of music. I never thought that was possible with a banjo track. Well done Mike, JJ

What's the origin of this great tune. I like your singing, it is real sincere and respects the tune, What key? I am at work without a tuner

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Tony, I learned this song from a Doc Watson album. I believe Merle might have been playing banjo, but It's not an actual "transcription" of his playing. I found a key that suited my voice and then went hunting for a tuning that caught the spirit of the piece; in this case it was Cm tuning (gCGCEb). I have no clue as to the origin of the song itself. I like to imagine it was sung during the "Mexican American War", but if so, was probably adapted from a far older song from the balladry of the British Isles... I have a video posted on youtube if you're interested in the fingerings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byDlKqSt4tY
