Is that you picking the banjo Gail? Very nice. I've played this version with a few people in the past and like it a lot. Will said he learned it from Charlie but as always, he changed things around to suit himself. Thanks for posting.

Yes, it was recorded a few years ago & I'm not so happy with my banjo part at this point...I really didn't have a plan. I'd probably use double C tuning & no picks in order to keep it more rippley & Will-like, or else keep it in drop C & go for a more Charlie Poole Boom CHUNK CHUNK, boom a chunka chunka. I still love Alice's fiddling & her grandson's tuba though!
In any case, the Acuff version of the tune is a nice variation. Charlie had (sadly, he's not been able to fiddle recently) a large repertoire of interesting tunes & waltzes. His "C Waltz" is really really lovely. It came out on a cassette in the 80s, but I think there's a clip of it on the Slippery Hill C tune webpage.

One of my favorites! I was wondering what the bass instrument was. I hadn't expected it to be a tuba sounds good.
