I was doing exercises to practice pull-offs and came up with this tune. We often walk along the St. Joseph River, with the trees blowing, geese honking, little animals scurrying off. Not the most perfect recording, but you'll get the idea.

Thanks Michael. What happens is this: I start screwing around, then something happens. A little tune starts and I can't shake it. I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but it might take me 6 months to refine a tune even to this point. But once I get it started, it haunts me until I do something with it. I've been kicking this around while walking to work, humming it while working out. With all that effort, you'd think I'd be able to get a better song and a better recording. But it's fun to play your own stuff, and even a little liberating. I recommend dividing your practice session into thirds: one third warm up (scales, rolls, etc.); one third songs you're trying to learn, and one third screwing around.

Wonderful advice!! I am going to do it. I have kind of been working on an instrumental break for a song I have been playing rolls to. It is relaxing, as it is my song. No big deal if I screw up. Michael
