Played in Wilbur's ( aka Mizzook ) simplistic and, to me, pretty style. I hope you like it, and thanks for listening. Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated. Bill Martin

Love it Bill. As I said on the thread I feel like grabbing the nearest copy of "The Grapes of Wrath" that I can find and reading along.

Sounds great. I really like the simple way of playing some of those old time songs on banjo or guitar. Sometimes there are so many notes the song loses its feeling. Thanks

I LOVED that, Bill. Can I have permission to put it on my iPod -- for my own enjoyment only? You said you were a picker in CA in the 40s; I of course know that was post war, but like pernicketylad above, my only visual reference for this is Peter Fonda or the like playing in a "Grapes of Wrath"-style work camp; I could easily imagine this song being played for some fellas after a long day of picking. Thanks for this.

You know what- this is great. Like others are saying- the song carries its feeling with less notes and great emotion! This is great!

Nicely done. It sounds like you might be singing at the bottom of your vocal range; try capoing up a fret or two and see if it's more comfortable singing for you. Keep up the good work. Simple renditions are good.
