This is from the Crockett Family Mountaineer's recording from the 30's I believe, where what is played as one tune today was really two different tunes. The Crockett Family Mountaneers played a few creative medleys

That makes complete sense.  I always wondered why there were so many parts to that tune.  I'm glad we got that cleared up.   Nice picking!
