A traditional tune updated with my MIDI arrangement featuring modern 3-finger banjo accompanied by looped drums and electronic pads. This version was originally used as an online demo for one of my articles for Electronic Musician Magazine.

Marty - This is very nice! I like the hip-hoppy, relaxed, funky, improvised solo. Was it done using a MIDI controller and sampled banjo sound? I hear hints of that (but could be wrong).

You could also be right... It is a sampled banjo. Ironically, I played it in in real time. I had a demo of the tune, and it was just too noisy to use a real banjo, so I used my MIDI banjo. It's a reasonably good-sounding bunch of samples, and uses a round-robin technique, which alternates between different samples on the same pitches. That keeps consecutive notes from sounding exactly alike.

LOved the arabic/new age/R&B vibe for the rhythm tracks. Love the banjo work too.
