yes, perceptive: this cabin overlooks a stream called Greasy Creek, which is an upper tributary to Big Reed Island Creek, itself a tributary to the New River--ironically one of the oldest rivers in the world. The area is called the New River Valley (hence NRV) and is in many ways the heartland of southern appalachian music. The bank as you call it is a hill that drops very steeply about 200' down to the narrow stream valley...
