Thanks Bill. It is the finest such mandolin I've ever soon. In good condition too (a few minor issues - nothing major).

I sent photos of a pretty nice one to Calvin years ago. What I can remember is that Martin bowl backs are collectable, and bring good money, but not much else, even though they are works of art. He did say the more ribs, the higher the grade generally. This is the nicest I've seen. Jim Bollman also would know quite a bit including the maker, since Bruno was a large NY dealer/distributer.

The only other suggestion I can make for an appraiser, in addition to those mentioned, is to search the net for dealers that cater to what little bowl back market there is out there. Mandolin orchestras may also have someone in the bunch that be able to put you on to a specialty dealer. Can it be tuned to pitch and does it have decent action? That would certainly help value.
Beautiful instrument, it certainly has some curb appeal! Hope you find a good home for it.
