Drilled out from the bottom of the block with Forster, to make a large enough cavity for the string button to rattle around in. Then drilled a smaller hole, all the way through, for the button to come down through. Then a hole just big enough for a brass nail to go through. The nail goes across the top of the button, so it can't pop out.
