It was at a small cafe and we decided to eat before going on so we arrived early and my banjo was left out in the car for about 11/2 hours in the August heat in Florida... and you know how the guy said that it was factory tuned?... well... not so much after being cooked. Of course the first plink of the strings told me that I was in some deep doo doo and the sweating began, which made it all the more difficult to retune... with a room full of people watching. Another of life's lessons learned the hard way. we finally got going and had a good time in spite of the hiccup at the start.

Just tell them you are playing the theme song for the Chinese proverb..."Too Ning"! Glad you relaxed and had fun. The "pucker factor" will always be present just before that first tune but the gigs get to be more and more fun. When you start to see familiar faces in the crowd, you know they came to see you! Wait until you get requests for "Too Ning" ! Enjoy!
