That's a very GOOD rim and tonering. I have a custom Arthur E. Smith banjo, made in 1979 -- that uses a copy of that spun tonering.
The AES has a heavy brass bar (like a smaller diameter version of the tension hoop) set into the top of rim -- with a 1/4" brass rod on top of that.
Then the spun tonering sits on top of the bar & rod. It's actually a very powerful tone system!

Thank you, Ed. When I bought this rim, it didn't come with a tension hoop. It is a 10 3/4" rim.
