This is a very cool recording. Brings back old memories for me.
There's not many banjo players who are hip enough to remember and cover the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.
I still have the LP that had this tune on it from years ago, 1984, I found the tune mesmerizing as it was during the same time that I was listening and absorbing minimalist composers like Terry Riley, Steve Reich, John Adams, Arvo Part, and Phillip Glass, with Terry Riley always being my favorite. I also found myself tickled to find this tune used in the movie Napoleon Dynamite many years later, it was another great use of a great tune for a great movie. Great job! This tune you've recorded has more melody than most of what I would term minimalism but it provides inspiration for tackling some new material myself.

Thanks for the comments, Tuneager! For me, the PCO was more about pretty music than minimal music. Some of the melodies (like Air รก Danser) are just so dang catchy. Agree with you about Napoleon Dynamite.

Thank you for posting this on the thread I started. Man, you have a sound and style of your own. In a world of sound-alike banjo players, you are unique. I've enjoyed listening to other pieces on your music sight.

Saw Pete Smith play this on guitar down our local club and thought it was awesome. Never thought it would be possible to play it clawhammer. Beg your pardon - my mistake!
Beautifully played.
