Based on Rick McKeon's three-finger arrangement, and very similar to it, but played here in clawhammer style (with some pinches stolen from Rick's arrangement). Played on a cheap practice banjo, poorly. Open G tuning.

Trying the Backyard Music banjo with a cake pan "resonator." Recorded using a Sony PCM-M10 with AGC disabled. The tune being played is "I wish I Was a Mole in the Ground," which is traditional.

Played in clawhammer style, after the way Jerry Garcia played it--but not nearly as well. The banjo is a Deering Goodtime Parlor (short scale). The player is some old city boy trying to sound like he's from the mountains.

Traditional. I heard this on Pete Seeger's "Birds, Beasts, Bugs & Fishes Little & Big." I stole a lick from him, and my verses are largely the same. Otherwise, it is my arrangement.

Arrangement from "Clawhammer Style Banjo" by Ken Perlman. First recording since the banjo was gone over by Billy at B&B Guitars. Stripped screw fixed, head tightened, frets leveled, zero-fret installed. It sounds _great_ and plays much easier now. Thanks, Billy. Recorded with a SONY PCM-M10, which sounds much better than the broken sound card I was using before.

After the marvelous version done by Garcia and Grissman on "Not for Kids Only". 5-string banjo, but just strummed and no fifth string used.

One of Woodie Guthrie's wonderful children's songs. Played in double-C on a Goodtime Parlor, in the garage, in the middle of the night during a bout of insomnia.
