Merry Christmas! Learned this at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. Used G tuning here, but capo up 2 and play it in A if you're with a fiddle. Tab is in Brad Leftwich's Round Peak Clawhammer book. Lyrics I use: Hooray Jake and hooray John Breaking up Christmas all night long Way back yonder, a long time ago The old folks danced the do-si-do Way back yonder, alongside the creek I seen Santa Claus a-washin' his feet Santa Claus come, done and gone Breaking up Christmas all night long

Recorded 6/30/2014 in the Celebrating Tradition ensemble class I'm taking at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. I love this class so much, and was lucky to capture a bit of spirit that day, of us laughing and working out a song we just learned and how to play it together. We're always having fun, it's a wonderful feeling.

My friends and I practicing for our upcoming gig at the Grinders vs. Shriners game in Deep River Park on August 10th, 2014. Brian Conner on lead and Kathleen Soler on rhythm guitar, Chuck Detmar on mandolin and Lee Fiorio on bass. This was my first time playing it. Damn but we had fun last night!

Me and the Americana Ensemble class at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music giving St. James Infirmary a go (Oct 2013). I'm practicing soloing and rolls. It's a wonderful class full of nice, wickedly talented people. http://www.oldtownschool.org/classes/detail/?courseid=3609

My friend Rich Boban wrote this the afternoon of a pithy Facebook exchange behind us about bloodthirsty garden gnomes. Rich guitar and vocals, me on banjo. I'm playing a long neck banjo uncapoed, strings tuned eBEGE, with four alternating beats of Em (open chord) and 4 beats of Am (barred on the 5th fret), over and over. I was delighted to play banjo backup on such a demented song! Performed 6/26/2014 at Paul Henry's Art Gallery in Hammond, Indiana.

Learning to play Michael Hurley's "The Slurf Song" together. Katie's on fiddle, Kathleen guitar and vocals, me on the banjo going too fast for the tempo.
