I've practiced Roustabout (a lesson tune) everywhere from Virginia to Minnesota over the last couple of weeks and it feels like this informal, no-fingernail, practice recording made late last night captures the best that I have in me at the moment. I hear things that I hope will change with practice, but I'm happy with it. It seems like the last times through have a bit more ooze than the first and those are my favorites. I'm uploading it to my music page for safe keeping.

A two-finger version of Sandy River Belle that I learned from Matt Brown. I've been practicing it recently looking for ways to vary it a bit--something I find harder to do with two-finger than I do with clawhammer.

There's something about this tune that makes it hard to put down. I like to play it fast, but I really think it works best slower with a little more groove than I gave it here. This is an example of progress toward playing in the moment without completely losing it when things don't go quite right. : )
