This piece was recorded with my Deering Sierra. I bought that banjo from Mr. Lou Boeyens. In his younger days he was ,besides a great musician, a great entertainer. Anyway, once I got used to it, it's a great banjo.

Bonnie Prince Charlie is the unofficial name for Charles Edward Stuart. He tempted for the British crown, but lost the crucial battle. For the rest of his live he lived in exile in France en Italy. So this is probably a Scottish tune. Adam Hurt made a very nice arrangement.

Cumberland Gap is welknown as fiddle tune in D or a banjo tune in G. This is however quit different. It's a tune from Scott Nygaard in Cminor. I learned the tune at a banjo workshop by Lluiz Gomez.

Chris Coole made this one as an exercise on "rolls".

These tunes are considered to be the very first beginning of melodic banjo. Bill Keith must be nearly eighty by now. Nevertheless we, in Europe, meet him every year at the yearly bluegrassevent in Voorthuizen Holland. As for us he's a living legend. His presence there really means a lot.

Played according to the tab in John Burke's Book of Old Time Fiddle Tunes for Banjo. On YouTube the fiddlers play it on a much faster pace than I do.

This might be the slowest banjo tune I ever knew. That doesn't mean it's an easy one. I found it on Spotify as a live rendition from Tony Ellis. Brilliant., He brings lots of feeling in every note.

We know this tune from Country Gazette. I think of myself as a banjoplayer but this time I put a great effort in a guitarbreak. I found a tab of Clarence White on the internet. It sure was a hell of a job.

I found this tune on the homepage of another Belgian banjoplayer teddy111. He posted it from an old LP-record. The author , Steve Waring is still performing in France.
