Nice waltz that I came across on Youtube recently and composed in the last few years - i.e. modern. Thanks to the composer, Shelley Weiss, for kindly sending me the sheet music . A litlle difficult to select Genre and style for this one (hence "other" selected). I guess I could call it "melodic" but that choice isn't available in the selection pulldown.

Inisheer - nice Irish waltz used to test my newly acquired Zoom H2N recorder. Short and sweet with no editing just to see how it sounds.

Quick (1 pass) audacity recording for a fellow BHO member who needs to play this song accompanying his daughter at a party this weekend. Until his request in BHO UK5 group, I hadn't even heard the song (although I do play "I could walk 500 Miles" from the same group with a rock band). The song appears in a musical and movie that I had never come across before called "Sunshine on Leith". Now I'm going have to wtyach the movie !

Nellie the Eelphant. Just decided to mess around with what I consider to be a fun tune whilst trying Audacity with just the laptop microphone (some way away in its docking bay) for audio pickup; it does pick up some noise but not bad for a minimal set up with virtually no bother in terms of having to connect up any hardware. I was also surprised not to find any existing versions of Nellie the Elephant amongst the existing MP3s and videos on BHO. Picking style is my self developed 3 finger technique, same as I use for some Celtic and English morris tunes. Can't really classify it either as BG or OT per se.

NIel Gow's Lament for his 2nd wife - turned into a less "Lamentable" tune at the tempo I used.

My very 1st try at getting 2 instruments mixed into an MP3. The crash a few seconds from the end is my wife inadvertently opening the door :-(

Red Haired Boy 1-pass recording in Audacity using headset microphone. Playing in key of A out of standard open G tuning. I developed this way of playing ti because it often comes up within a set of 3 tunes in Celtic sessions - with the other 2 tunes being in either D or (less often) G; you don't want to lose several bars of the tune whilst you fit a capo. (Prior to that I played a different version, capoed up 2 frets and playing out of G shapes or scales).

Somewhat jazzed or bluegrassed up version of Sir Syds - and hence annoys traditional purists. (I also play a more melodic version to appease those conservative folks). Sydney Smith was an English admiral who defeated Napoleon at the siege of Acre and in doing so may have changed the course of the Napoleonic wars. Sir Sydney's fame was short lived as his exploits we're soon overshadowed by those of Nelson. Quick and dirty recording (warts, errors and all) using microphone part of cheap PC headset and Audacity. New latop and new OS so had to mess about to get it working at all acceptably :-( Not really Bluegrass **or** old time style, but there isn't a category called "bluehammer" or "individual" to describe my self developed picking style..

Did this one just for a laugh. 1-pass Audacity recording (including flubbs) using laptop mike. This is in response to thread http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/253756/1 I used open D tuning and my "bluehammer" style (someone already coined the term "clawgrass"). See Andy's thread about "I am a cider drinker" to get more background
