Just hit the 4-year mark since my very first lesson. This is what my Prucha Fall In Love sounds like, drop C tuning.

My 2004 RB-4 reissue visited me for a few days, and I made this recording for comparison purposes.

Made this on 8/15/2013 in response to another BHO member's request to compare this Nechville titanium-topped tone ring, with the regular Nechville bronze ring. This is the TTT ring, Renaissance head at 92, custom Nechville Classic Deluxe. I think I turned away from the recorder about 1/3 of the way into the clip, my bad, but this was the best take out of roughly 12 tries.

Made this on 8/15/2013 per another BHO member's request to compare the Nechville TTT ring, with the regular Nechville bronze ring. This is the bronze ring, same setup as the other clip, except Renaissance head set at 91. I probably would prefer a frosted head with this ring to cut down some of the overtones, I left the Ren head on because I didn't want to move the bridge. These clips made solely in the name of science, I know there are flubs.

Hiya: I originally posted this on 1/4/2013 as a blind comparison test. This clip is with a 2004 Gibson RB-4, equipped with a Fults Cumberland tailpiece and a Yates bridge.

I originally posted this on 1/4/2013 as a blind comparison test. This clip is with my maple Nechville Classic DLX, equipped with a titanium-topped Timbr-Tronic tone ring. I'm of the opinion that this banjo can go toe-to-toe with the "baseline" reissue Gibson in the other clip. On the other hand, I concede that it is quite possible that I make all banjos sound similarly bad. . . . .
