Rendition of an old favorite. Banjo is kinda rough in spots...I thought about fixing it, but then decided to leave it as a good and objective indication, warts and all, of where I am right now playing a relatively tricky song at a relatively quick tempo, for posterity.

An old British folk song, apparently originating either in England or Scotland. And yes, you're not hearing things, it's not pronounced like it's written.

An old bluegrass favourite, played on the mandolin at a more leisurely pace than usually encountered. No banjo on this one.

An old English courting folk song. Michaelmas was the time where farmhands would move to pastures new to seek employment, and also the time when they'd have a little money, which this particular farmhand gives to the hapless milkmaid whose cow has kicked over and spilled her milk bucket. However, Michaelmas was also the occasion where milkmaids would also have plenty enough cash to survive a spilled bucket, so her plight is merely a device to hook the farmhand before he leaves the area.

More fiddle tunes. An Irish jig juxtaposed with an English country dance would be sacrilege in some circles, but they go together well to my ears.

No banjo on this one, just me singing with my guitar. I'm aware I sing in the same sense that a dog sings, by the way. I'm hoping to get better at it, and trying to get over the embarrassment of people listening to it in the meantime.

My version of an old Welsh ballad. Huw Puw (Hugh Pugh, anglicised) was a 19th century Welsh captain of a "fflat", or flat-bottomed ship which was used to transport cargo up and down rivers. The ballad tells of a young boy's longing to go sailing and become a "real sailor" and ultimately the captain of Huw Puw's ship, and how he's going to keep all the brass shiny on the boat, and sail to Ireland and buy little dancing shoes with little silver buckles on them, and all that. It's a fun old tune. The hardest part of this for me was coming up with a decent sounding banjo part at a relatively slow swing tempo, rather than the usual fast flowing rolls.
