A tune I learned while living in Turkey many years ago. The title means "Dear Hunter, Don't Shoot Me". Double C tuning, capoed at 2.

Some years back, 1989 to be exact, Clark Buehling posted this song for Classical Banjo in the Banjo Newsletter. I tried it a few times as a classical piece but my fingers just did not get it. So I started playing it as a Clawhammer piece. Clark says in was written by Wm. J. Doherty in 1894. It is in standard C tuning, gCGBD.

Another by Blackie Morgan, Dan Gray and myself from 1984. Sorry for the quality but I think we had a small hand held cassette recorder in those days.

From the 1984 session with the Wash DC fiddler Blackie Morgan. A typical breakdown medley I think he played at every dance we played together through the 70's. Dan Gray on guitar, and a much younger me on banjo.

Old recordings made with the Wash DC fiddler Blackie Morgan about 1984. Blackie on fiddle, Dan Gray on guitar and yours truely on banjo. For some reason Blackie always called this tune "Chinqapin". He recorded about 20 songs with us that day in the living room !

One of my favorite Stephen Foster tunes, if for no other reason then it contains the line "...she bereft us when she left us...."
