Paul Breen on guitar, Christine on Banjo. Key of G - TOTW 4/09/2011. Played on a Phippsburg Banjo - all nylgut strings. This is one of the low end Phippsburg model banjos made back in the 80's by Banjo Billy Mathews. The banjo was originally purchased by Dave Landreth for a student of his in Springfield, IL and I was lucky enough to find it when the student decided to sell a few years ago!

Written by Dawn Petty. Played by Fiddlin' Banjo Billy Mathews on a vintage tango banjo strung up with only four strings he has had for many years. I am playing back-up on a Phippsburg 5-string banjo. My five string is tuned to classic C (GCGBD). I fell in love with this waltz that Dawn wrote in the 1990's. Hope you enjoy and waltz on! Christine Breen Banjo. Played on my new-old Lyon Healy Mystic in GCGCD. I like to play in this tuning even though the tune is played in D normally. Billy Mathews taught me this tune on his visit to my town July 2008.

Snyders waltz played by Billy Mathews. I do not know when I recorded this but it was a while back. Billy learned this tune from a recording of Lonnie Robertson in MO.
