Here is a backing track for the song I am working on myself for the moment, Bill Cheatham. It is according to the arrangement in All Star Bluegrass Jam Along (nice arrangement by Tony Trischka). I have slowed it down and play it in G, so you dont have to use a capo while rehearsing.

Here is Black Mountain Rag in C at 75 bpm practice speed. Normal performance speed of this tune I guess would be 95-120 bpm. I learn this tune from the excellent 'All Star Blugrass Jam Along' banjo arrangement by Tony Trischka. As an exception, I even added drums to this one. There are some bars intro before the song actually starts. You will hear the guitar bass strings kicking it off.

Backing track for you to use as a metronome when learning Blackberry Blossom. You will find instructions and TAB in "You Can Teach Yourself Banjo" by Janet Davis. You can also find several TABs for this song in the TAB section here at Banjohangout.

Here is a backing track for Blackberry Blossom in G at 100 bpm. You play banjo solo 1st. and 3. time around and backup the 2nd time around. The guitar is my new Blueridge BR 160A.

Here is a track from my first bluegrass jam. None of us had ever played together before, so there were a lot of errors - and some bright moments.

I think I learned Cindy in the late 1960s from the LP to the Pete Seeger book How to play the 5-string banjo. However it seems that the tab is not included in the book and I have lost the LP. I screwed up a little in the ending - but at least you get the idea of the song. I play the RK-R80 here - mostly up the neck.

I think I learned this from the LP to Pete Seegers book. The tab is not included in the book. I play with a C in the 3rd bar. Sometimes it is played with just the G in this bar.

I am practicing from Ron Blocks dvd. This backing track is straight from Band-in-a-Box. No ending, unfortunately! It is in A, so you have to put a capo on 2nd fret.

First you hear dkmarshalls file as it sounds in Band-in-a-Box through Macintosh Quick Time instruments (system sounds). Better than a metronome, but it sounds like an old Mario Bros computer game. I have set tempo to practice speed.
In the next verse I have exported the midi file to Logic and replaced the instruments with Logic software instruments. Now it sounds much better. You could probably get the same result by adding a nice sampler/synthesizer to BiaB.
Last verse, I have replaced guitar and mandolin with real recorded instruments that I am playing myself. And muted the banjo track, as I intend to play along with my own banjo. Now only the bass track is left from the original file. That´s because I don´t have a double bass!

Here you have a backing track for Cripple Creek at practice speed. The bass is from dkmarshall´s Band-in-a-Box file, guitar and mandolin I play myself.

Here is Cumberland Gap backing track at practice speed, 95 bmp. There are a lot of repetitions, so I did variations on guitar and mandolin for the B-part. As usual I have recorded all my errors - so you won´t think it is Band-in-a-Box playing.

Foggy Mountain Breakdance in G @ 120bpm. I am not violating any copyright. I made a quick and dirty guitar break while recording, so you can practice banjo backup

A little bluegrass gospel, here is a backing track for "Ill Fly Away" in G, 90 bpm. It is made ABABABAB where A is verse and B is chorus. The third verse/chourus is a mandolin/guitar break, so you can play banjo backup. Enjoy!

Here it is again. The backing track for Little Cabin Home on the Hill. This time in E to fit my singing. You will have to capo at 4th fret and play C/F/G chords (C-tuning).

Same 4 bars over and over again. The bass does funny things in the last chorus - so you know when it is over.

Here is Old Joe Clark backing track at near performance speed. If you think it is too fast, you can slow it down using Audacity (free software). I play a mandolin break so you can practice backup banjo.
