This is a song I wrote about an old soldier looking back in time, recalling battles and friends, long gone. Against the backdrop of a string quintet, arranged by Tom Annand, Willie P. Bennett's beautiful vocal and harmonica, evoke images of longing and lament, giving us pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who died, and by those who survived. As it turned out, this was the last recording ever made by Willie, before his passing in February of 2008.
