I have a 1920's Rushworth & Dreaper tenor banjo that was my grandfather's. It is in pretty good condition and fun to play but one of the threaded steel tuner shafts snapped and now I cannot play it.
I ordered 4 new tuners a year or so ago but they don't fit in the present holes and they are too short to go through the headstock. I want to restore the banjo to playing condition but don't want to alter the originality of it because of it's sentimental value. My grandfather brought the banjo to Canada from England in the 40's and taught me to play when I was a lad. When he died he left the banjo to me. Originally it had a calfskin head but that had to be replaced many years ago because it split.
The tuners are made of steel and the shafts are about an inch and a quarter long with threaded ends that go through the tuning knobs and lock in place with a threaded grommet.
I have pictures of them and can post them if anyone has anything that sounds similar.
If anyone can help me find these types of tuner I would be very grateful.
