Five string plectrum and Perry Bechtel

Greetings fellow banjoids. Just wanted to know if anyone knows if Perry bechtel ever played a 5-string plectrum; 5 strings at the peghead. I was told that he did by an old Vaudevillian banjo player that on one of his recordings he did. Anybody ever hear of that? D.A.
