Pickin' in St. Michaels, MD

Wednesday, May 30, 2007

I went to spend Memorial Day with my girlfriend in St. Michaels, but she had to work.  I went down to the water to pick a little.  I made a few bucks in tips and had a great time.  Next day, the owner of the store where Katie works invited me to play out front to drum up business.

I made a few more tips, and a group of kids came up to watch.  One wanted to hold the banjo, so I said what the hell.  I gave him the banjo and showed him the forward roll.  After that, all the kids in the group (about 5) wanted to play.  I let each of them hold the banjo.

As they were walking away, a little girl told me I was a good player.  A few steps after that,  I heard a couple kids tell mom and dad they wanted a banjo, too. 6 comments
