Started learning to play in 2012. I've always enjoyed Bluegrass and kept saying I was going to learn how to play banjo. Never quite got around to it until one day I realized my dad always wanted to learn - even bought himself a banjo. He never followed thru and then, one day, he died. I don't want that to happen to me - I want to learn before I die, so by granny, I contacted someone in my local area and have been taking lessons from nearly two years now. I just upgraded my level from 'just startin' to novice because I now know how to play 8 songs 'purty good' (I can't practice as much as I'd like or I might know a few more - DO NOT TELL MY TEACHER, lol). Still not up to speed but don't think I'm dawg slow, either. I reckon if you play clean, speed will come eventually. I have a wonderful teacher, Lori Pegram. She is a member of this site - look her up.
