So I bought my first banjo on Sunday. Its a tenor with the metal style Kay logo on the head-stock. After removing the resonator, I found no official label, just a scribed-in serial number on the ring. Stain on the neck and resonator match, but Im still not sure this isnt a piece-meal banjo. A bastard if u will.
How would I tell if this is a Kay and what year?
How much would the Paramount tailpiece fetch if it says "Patent Pending"?
I know these are highly sought after and this appears to be from the first lot produced. Its strange in that it has 6 string posts.
Did they make them for guitar? There are four posts in the rear row and there are two in the front spaced between the two pairs in the back.
Will post pics soon. Having too much fun playing it now.
