Experience I have been performing and teaching guitar professionally since 1998. I teach both in schools and at my studio in Sydney, Australia. Education I graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2003 with a Bmus.studies(Musicology) degree. I am lucky to have had many influential teachers such as Pedro de Alcantara, Joseph Tawadros, Ben Hauptmann, James Muller, Judy Bailey, Bill Motzing and Steve Brien. Over the years I have studied guitar, banjo, Alexander technique, singing, cello and violin. Performance I play predominantly in my own band: Dave Carr’s Fabulous Contraption www.fabulouscontraption.net, as well as many others including Gypsy-World fusion band Lolo Lovina www.myspace.com/lololovinamusic, world-shred guitar group Guitar Carnival www.myspace.com/guitarcarnival, progressive bluegrass band The Lunch Mothers, and celtic-Indian fusion group Tapestries of Sound www.tapestriesofsound.com. David has also done many sessions with other bands including the Crooked Fiddle Band, Leroy Lee, Takadimi, BOB (featuring Benjamin Hauptmann) and Bellyache Ben and the Steamgrass Boys. For updates on my gigs send an email to fabulouscontraption@gmail.com with your name, and city plus the text “add to email list” in the subject line. Also check out the bands’ pages on facebook. Highlights My musical highlights include performances at Luminous (curated by Brian Eno at the Sydney Opera House, with Lolo Lovina in 2009), Woodford Folk Festival (with Lolo Lovina in 2009), and Caixa Cultural Brasilia, Brazil (solo 2011). For the past two years I have been organising Australia’s only progressive folk festival, FrogFest, which toured through NSW, ACT and VIC in 2012.
