I grew up in the Philadelphia folk scene and was introduced to clawhammer banjo by Peter Taney, and later learned fiddle from Janet Bregman-Taney. When I moved to Chapel Hill in the mid-1980s I learned to focus more on rhythm than melody, and still love a good groove. I play in Irish and Old-Time sessions around Syracuse.
