My wife has inherited a 5 string. From the information on the banjo it appears to be a George Washburn five string. The number 774 is burned into it along with the Washburn logo. Family lore is that it was a house instrument at an old general store in rural Cheatham County, Tennessee that was owned by the father of my wife's father's second wife (it gets confusing).
We would love to have any information ya'll might be able to provide on it.
