Hello BHO,
Having won a Gold Tone OT 700 A Scale Banjo on this site in June I finally received it last Monday. It was prohibitive to ship it legitimately and pay customs so it made its way by a circuitous route. I am very pleased with it. Having been playing a Deering Goodtime the first shock was the weight. I have had a strange week of getting used to the balance and feel of the OT. In the last day or so I have begun to feel comfortable with it. I find I tilt the head much more in towards me than the Deer. I love the tone of OT and a tone ring is new to me as well. I sing mostly in A and it suits wonderfully in that way. The step up in quality is challenging. First question is when tuning to Sawmill from A tuning what key do i tune the second string to? Had just learned Cluck Old Hen and Shady Grove on Deer and wish to transfer to OT. So thanks to BHO for picking my name and allowing me the chance to play and learn on this great great prize.
