I've been playing clawhammer off-and-on since the mid-70's. Played in a local D.C. area stringband in the late 70's early 80's, but our members have long since dispersed to other locales. I'm much more interested in melodic clawhammer than ever, and my fingering has improved over the years. The wider neck on my Wildwood has helped my playing a lot as well. I also lead a lot of bird walks in the D.C. and Montgomery County, Md. area, and some general nature trips for the Audubon Naturalist Society in Chevy Chase, Md. Have co-lead trips to Montana, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas. If I ever get to retire, I hope to do more jamming with others, and maybe take up Cajun accordian, which I have also wanted to pursue for some time.
