I've been playing music locally, regionally for many years, Our band toured china's shangdong province for 2 weeks a couple of years ago, We played in the big cities, for monks, national tv show for 200 million people, an international beer festival. many street festivals and the largest nightclub in Jinan the capitol of the province. This was the highlight of my playing career and it was great teaching all walks of life there about bluegrass music. You know after the first 10 minutes of a performance the people acted just like an American audience. My biggest shock about being there was that there wasn't any shock, most people are good people where ever you go.
