Sliding from 2nd to 3rd fret on 3rd string

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

I have a question regarding sliding from the 2nd to 3rd fret on the 3rd string.  My banjo is in tune but when I do this slide the tone sounds slightly off.  If I slide to the 4th fret the tonal quality is much better, but in reading the majority of bluegrass tablature, the slide is from the 2nd to the 3rd fret.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Again, my banjo is in tune, but the slide sounds better going to the 4th fret rather than the 3rd fret.
