Started my journey with music at the age of 12. Was taught my first 3 chords by my hero Don Gerber. Played my butt off even when banjo was not cool in Ca. until Deliverance aired and then I was cool. Played a lot in churches and spent just under 20 yrs. playing in a Country Gospel band, we recorded 3 records in the 80's and had a great time. I continued my love for music but was drawn away with the responsibilities of my construction company. Brick laying and concrete work didn't do much for my chops but I kept playing. Even won the banjo fiddle contest one year at Devonshire Downs in Southern California. I spent many hours with the fantastic players like the guys from "Hot off the Press" and learned a great deal. After around 25 years in construction I had to give it up due to extreme arthritis that crippled me up quite well. I met and played bass for Buck Page, (one of the high lights of my musical experiences) founder of the "Riders of the Purple Sage" . After he disbanded his most recent southern Ca. configuration of the Riders of the Purple Sage due to band members theft of his instruments and his bank account ) Was lucky enough to have the opportunity to manage Buck and along with my life long friend Joe DiBlasi we produced Bucks only solo record. We got a lot of action from that project and Buck enjoyed some awards and 5 first round Grammy nominations. That launched me back into music and into it about full time. I always dreamed about being able to get back into my music roots one day but never imagined it would be on the business side. So, here I am once more. An open book hoping to get my chops back somewhat to be able to make some more memories jamin with some great players. And, thankful each day for the world class artists I've had the honor to work with and pray they will want me back for there next project, Ya know? LOL
