Sullivan vintage banjos

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Someone recently posted a question whether anyone had played any of the Sullivan vintage banjos at IBMA.  I just wanted to say I did...and had a blast at the FQMS booth pickin' on Friday with Murrell Thixton, Caleb Smith, Grace Van't Hof, and the legendary Jack Hicks.  Balsam Range played at the Quartet Convention in Louisville two years ago...and Bill Sullivan was nice enough to let me take one to evaluate...Prototype 4.  I've had a lot of fun playing it...and used it in the recording of Balsam Range's new CD (Last Train To Kitty Hawk).  I love the new (old sounding) Sullivan banjos...and am glad to post my first time on this site.  BTW...I used Proto4 on the WETS live show in Johnson City as well as Song Of The Mountains in Marion, VA this past Saturday.  I hope I'm doing this post correctly.
