Started playing banjo in 1983. Self taught, reading the early books on Clawhammer Banjo by Miles Krassen and Ken Perlman. The Banjo did take bit of a back seat though, as I was heavily involved in playing guitar in an English folk band and recording in sessions for various English and Celtic folk albums. I've been playing guitar since I was 14. My passion for playing the banjo never went away though, and when my daughter Eliza expressed a great interest in Appalachian and Old Time music I was thrilled to be able to concentrate on playing banjo again. As a result we now have an Old-Time band called Appaloosas featuring my daughter Eliza, Myself, and my old friend Stephen Potter. I am also part of a trio called "Unstrung Heroes" where I play guitar and banjo. In this band I play mixture of music ranging from English traditional folk music to the music of Jimmy Rogers, Appalachian, and old time.
