Started playing piano at around 6, but hated it. Joined band in 5th grade and played saxaphone until 7th. Then I switched to tuba. Played tuba for 8 years and majored in tuba performance at college. During that time picked up the banjo a little, but never seriously. Took fiddle lessons when I was about 14, never got very good. In high school and college I was in a couple of punk bands playing bass and guitar. Now I play mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, and accordion in an Irish rock band in KC. And in another folk rock band in KC I play the accordion and banjo. Just having fun and learning along the way.
