I started playing guitar (electric), and got really into it. I took lessons frequently and developed my basic improvizational skills with simple pentatonic scales. I played a hugely varied selection of music from classic rock, to blues, to metal. After about 7 years I started to lose interest, and picked the guitar up less and less. After a several year hiatus, I decided I wanted to get into banjo, an instrument I always wanted to play more than guitar. In late May of '09 I borrowed a banjo from my sister's boyfriend and started pickin'.
