I have a jam coming up at my house in mid-August and we are trying a new format -- one that was so kindly suggested here. We are each picking 2 songs to lead and notifying others of our choices ahead of time. Each person must provide chord and lyric sheets for their chosen songs. I am happy to have some organization and direction at the jam, given that we are of different skill levels. On that note, I seem to play (and practice) songs much slower than the others and I've noticed that it is primarily speed that holds me back. Well, the tripping fingers and ensuing frustration that comes with suddenly picking up the pace substantially. Time to dust off the metronome!
