The EBC was formed about three years ago by Rob MacKillop and myself. It was a simple format, do you like the banjo. That was all that was required to join. Still is. Sadly Rob was not able to continue with the running of the Club however he is a great supporter. Initial membership held about twelve folk and increased rather rapidly to over fifty who receive our monthly newsletter. We have three members living in USA and a few from other countries either living here permanently or on shorter stays as students.
in the beginning we had many styles of playing from classical to old time. Content of the meetings is at the request of attending members and the current emphasis is in Bluegrass. We open with a chat and a drink from the bar and usually a workshop session on a seasonal theme followed by a jam. This season's theme has concentrated on rhythm, timing and chord usage at the third, fifth and seventh position.
so if you find yourself in Edinburgh come along and share a tune or three.
A' the best. Doc.

Played Bluegrass here in UK for 40+ years. I play all the 'bluegrass' instruments as well as mountain dulcimer and autoharp and a really mean bodhran. I sing lead or bass in bands and gospel music in church and on stage. I perform regularly and teach when asked. I have a rich library of Scottish music and do searches for Scottish tunes for folk all over the world. I am a (very proud) distributor for Chuck Lee Banjos and Paige Capos. MD Hootsman Music. Member of Appalachian Mist, Balblair and The Edinburgh Highland Reel & Strathspey Society.
