Born in Oklahoma. Grew up in Wisconsin. So, I really can't explain my interest in the banjo or banjo music. There is very little of it heard in this part of the world. I still own all the banjos I've ever bought and learned to play. My mom bought my first banjo. It is a 1965 Harmony Roy Smeck plectrum, 4 string. My second banjo came from the life-long collection of Leo Dahlberg who passed away in 1988 in La Crosse, WI. It is a 1940s era Gibson Mastertone tenor, 4 string. My third is a 1920s era Bacon Day "Super Banjo" plectrum 4 string. I bought it on eBay many years ago. My fourth banjo (and the one I"ve focued on learning and playing for the last 5 years) is a Fender F59. It is my first and only 5-string banjo. Like many other people, I also play and own several guitars.
