I'm not really a banjo player although the banjo is my favorite instrument. I started my first bluegrass band in 1966. I've been playing bluegrass on the radio since the mid-1960s. My current bluegrass radio show has been on the air since 1973. I've been a member of the IBMA practically since the beginning and produced the IBMA Awards Show from 1990-1999. Present the Brian Friesen Banjo Award in conjunction with Deering Banjos. I've been playing bass in cowboy bands since 1995.
