Playing Since: 1958
Experience Level: Purty Good
Interests:
[Jamming]
Occupation: banjo builder/repairer
Gender: Male
Age: 76
My Instruments:
My main playing banjo is a Stacey open back 5-string which is modelled on a Fairbanks Electric. I also play an A-scale with Gryphon peg head on an upgraded style-N rim. This one dismantles for travel. I also have several restored banjos from early English through to collectable American models. Is it possible to have too many banjos?!
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Camp Creek Boys, Round Peak, plus new wave like Molsky Powell Leftwich. Also like Reyna Gellert. I like bands with plenty of Drive.

Been playing and building and repairing banjos as a hobby since I was a kid. Got early retirement from the day job and have been running Stacey Banjos full time for the last 11 years. I build open back banjos styled on the early Fairbanks and Vega models, sometimes using Vega Tenor rims and sometimes my own rims with various tone rings. Also the Sodbuster model which has a deep thin rim lightly constructed for that punchy plunky sound. Things like frailers scoops, wild and whacky inlays, Left hand neck, calfskin head etc are available on all models.
