I came to banjo recently, I recieved a Fender 55 for my 40's birthday. My project is to learn enough technic in order to be abble to play Celtic music from Brtitany.
I live in France (Strasbourg) where it's nearly impossible to find a Banjo teacher. Then, I'm learning (by myself) with the "Banjo for Dummies".

Since I was born (in Le Mans-1968), I have had no opportunity of playing any music. In primary, like most of my friends, I started solfège and stopped pretty quick due to the boring method of teaching/learning music (you lear fisrt to read music and 3 years afteryou start an instrument). Then, two years ago, facinated by the beauty of the instrument more than the music coming from it, I decided to buy a Banjo (fender FB 55 bought through internet in Germany- Thomann), as well as a method and to start playing. I'm still amazed to notice that it is posible to do it this way. May be I will never be a perfect (no even a good) banjo player but, for the first time of my life, I introduced a new dimension, in my every day life: music.
